چکیده مقاله:

The present research aimed to compare the learned helplessness and defense mechanisms in patients with bipolar disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress in psychiatric hospitals. The research method was comparative causal and it was practical in terms of purpose. Also, the participants in this study were all patients admitted to bipolar disorder / Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in psychiatric hospitals in Tehran. In addition, the sample of the present study was selected by ۸۶ people, and it was available in terms of method. The research tools were the learned helplessness questionnaires of Quinless & Colleagues and defense mechanisms scale which made by Andrews & Colleagues. Data analysis was done in two parts of descriptive & inferential in SPSS-v۲۱ software. The findings showed that there is difference between learned helplessness variable (indicated by F=۶.۱۰۶) and defense mechanism variable (indicated by F=۵.۱۲۰) in patients with bipolar disorder/ Post-Traumatic Stress in psychiatric hospitals. Considering that the F statistic for both variables was less than ۵%, the obtained results were significant (P<۰.۰۵). Based on the results, we suggest that relevant organizations show their support to patients with mental disorders in the form of financial aid, treatment, medication, counseling and psychotherapy.
