Revitalizing and improving the quality of large urban buildings using flowing signs and lighting at night

The image of a city in the minds of its citizens during the day often corresponds to the visual impressions they gather from its spaces. What is perceived of the city and urban spaces influences the mental images formed by residents. Proper lighting of the city and its spaces can enhance their clarity, helping citizens not only to perceive the city better but also to form a clear mental image. Effective lighting can significantly help in creating a positive, bright perception of the city at night. Additionally, it serves as a critical factor in strengthening the unique identity of a location and increasing the vibrancy of the city.Signage is part of urban equipment, primarily installed to convey messages from individuals, groups, or institutions to other citizens. These messages, whether through written text or images, are communicated within open or enclosed spaces. At the Shiraz central municipality building, a ۳D element has been implemented to display various signs and images at night, offering a different visual experience compared to daytime. This study focuses on the environmental quality surrounding the Shiraz City Hall at night, emphasizing the role of lighting in improving its perception. The research method employed is descriptive and analytical, supported by field observations and data collection through surveys. The findings indicate that the building's nighttime lighting significantly enhances its environmental quality and strengthens its identity.
