The Effect of Increasing the Content of Mesoporous Silica Modifiers on the Workability and Mass Loss of Bitumen

In this study, adding different weight percentages of the mesoporous silica to bitumen and making the corresponding samples, two tests of rotational viscometer and rolling thin-film oven were performed on five separate samples., It was observed that binders containing this modifier, with a viscosity much lower than the maximum permitted value (۳Pa.s), not only are transferred easily and pumped in hot mixing equipment and also are mixed easily with aggregate at mixing temperature but it is also expected that, the bitumen which is modified with this additive will have a potential of rutting resistance due to an increase in viscosity
