Investigating the amount of local lighting in the administrative units of an industry in Ahvaz city

Background: Optimal lighting is one of the most important factors for optimizing the physical conditionsof different places, especially working environments. Improper lighting conditions distort environmentalvisual information and increase the possibility of mistakes in the work. The present study was conductedwith the aim of evaluating the local intensity of the administrative units of an industry in Ahvaz city.Methods: In this descriptive study, the amount of artificial lighting individually and by using the LightMeter Tes ,was measured in the administrative units of an industry in Ahwaz. At first, the intensity of locallighting was measured in terms of lux on the work surface, and finally, the amount measured at each levelwas compared with the intensity of lighting recommended in the standard. Also, the type of lamps and theirnumber, the defectiveness of the lamps, the atmospheric condition during the measurement, the aircondition of the working environment in terms of the presence of pollutants, the cleanliness of the lightingsources, the cleanliness of the windows, the material and color of the walls, ceiling and floor placed underinvestigation.Results: In ۴ measurement stations, the measured brightness did not meet the standard and in some stations,the lamps were burnt or defective.Conclusion: To provide optimal lighting in the measurement stations, on the necessity of implementingcorrective measures such as redesigning and modifying systems brightness is emphasized.
