چکیده مقاله:
Background: Tendon is a soft connective tissue that plays an important role in the function of the motor organ.Tendon injuries take time to heal. Available medical and surgical treatments are often unable to fully restore tendon function. Cell therapy and growth factors are new treatment methods. Stem cells exert their effect following injury by regulating the host's inflammation, healing and repair phase. Platelet-rich plasma(PRP) leads to improved healing by increasing the migration, proliferation and differentiation of cells, improving matrix construction and stimulating angiogenesis.Materials and methods: Eighteen male Wistar rats were randomly divided into negative control and two treated groups. Tendonitis was induced by collagenase in Achilles tendons. After ۴۸ hours, the stem cells extracted from the oral mucosa were injected into the Achilles tendons of treatment groups and in the tendons of one of the treatment groups platelet-rich plasma was injected too. On days ۷ and ۱۴. the tendons were dissected out and the samples were used to perform histopathological examinations. Results: Treatment groups showed better repair compared to the control group. Hematoxylin-Eosin histopathological evaluation showed that in the PRP recipient group, collagen fibers have a more regular arrangement. Conclusion: PRP and mucosal stem cells lead to improved tendon repair and better arrangement of collagen fibers.PRP improves the effect of stem cells on tendon repair.
