چکیده مقاله:

RNA interference (RNAi) technology has emerged as a promising platform for crop improvement, particularly under changing environmental conditions. Implementing RNAi technology for crop improvement faces several challenges. Ensuring that RNAi targets only the intended gene without affecting non-target genes is crucial. Off-target effects can lead to unintended consequences. Efficient delivery of dsRNA or small RNAs to plant cells is challenging. Developing effective delivery systems that protect RNA molecules from degradation is essential. RNA molecules are susceptible to degradation by nucleases. Maintaining stability and persistence of RNAi molecules in the plant over time is a hurdle. Achieving high specificity for pests or pathogens while avoiding unintended effects on beneficial organisms is complex. RNAi efficacy can be influenced by environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, soil type). Adapting RNAi for diverse environments is necessary. Regulatory agencies assess the safety and environmental impact of RNAi-based crops. Obtaining approvals can be time-consuming. Pests may evolve resistance to RNAi-based pesticides. Strategies to delay resistance development are critical. In summary, addressing these challenges is essential for successful implementation of RNAi technology in crop improvement.
