The restructuring of the electricity sector, combined with rapid advancements in communication technologies, has empowered consumers to introduce new controllable resources into the power grid at scale. These developments, while promising, present challenges for power system operators, who lack direct control over many of these resources. As a result, understanding the behavior of consumers and resource owners becomes crucial to maintaining and optimizing the efficiency of the grid. Among the most significant new resources are demand response programs and vehicle-to-grid (V۲G) technologies, both of which have the potential to reshape energy consumption patterns. However, the integration of these resources requires careful management, particularly in the case of electric vehicles (EVs), where simultaneous charging can place substantial strain on the power grid. This paper investigates the impact of large-scale EV charging on grid performance, focusing on the potential effects of widespread EV adoption.Through simulations using the IEEE ۲۴-bus RTS-۷ network in MATLAB, this study models different scenarios to analyze the grid’s response to varying levels of EV charging. The results highlight the importance of developing strategies for grid operators to manage these new resources effectively, ensuring stability and efficiency as electric vehicle usage continues to grow.
