چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Bipolar disorder type ۱ is a complex mental disorder characterized by severe mood swings, including periods of mania and depression. This disorder can have profound effects on an individual's life and lead to suicidal thoughts and risky behaviors. In this regard, examining factors associated with this disorder, including tolerance for ambiguity and emotion regulation, can help to better understand and manage this condition .Research Method: This study was conducted using a descriptive-analytical method and included ۱۵۰ patients hospitalized in psychiatric wards in Zanjan city. The samples were selected conveniently and specific inclusion and exclusion criteria were considered to ensure the accuracy of the results. The instruments used included the Distress Tolerance Scale, the Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale, and the Suicidal Ideation Tendency Questionnaire, which helped in collecting data and analyzing the relationships between variables .Findings: The findings of the study show that bipolar disorder has a strong positive and significant relationship with suicidal ideation. Also, tolerance of ambiguity is significantly related to emotion regulation in a positive relationship and bipolar disorder in a negative relationship. Emotion regulation also has a significant relationship with bipolar disorder in a negative relationship and suicidal ideation in a negative relationship ( p < ۰.۰۵ ).Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that tolerance of ambiguity and emotion regulation are key factors in the management of bipolar I disorder and the prevention of suicidal thoughts. Therefore, paying attention to these variables in treatment programs can help improve the quality of life of patients and highlights the need for further research in this field .
