چکیده مقاله:
Concrete is a commonly used buildingmaterial that is prone to damagesuch as cracks and fissures even before any external load is applied.These microcracks are caused by factors like shrinkage, hydration, andcarbonation. When subjected to external loading, these microcracks candevelop in to larger cracks that may lead to structural failure. In seismicanalysis of reinforced concrete structures, it is important to consider thepotential for structural damage. Damage indices can be used to assess theextent of damage in a structure. This pap er examines different measures ofstructural damage and collapse, including both local and global damageindices. It also discusses the correlation between analytically determineddamage indices and actual structural damage.
