چکیده مقاله:

Electric propulsion has emerged as a pivotal technology in the maritime industry, fundamentally transforming how vessels operate and interact with the environment. The roots of this technology can be traced back to the late ۱۹th century, when pioneers like Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison began experimenting with electric motors. However, the widespread adoption of electric propulsion in maritime applications did not occur until the ۲۱st century, driven by increasing environmental awareness and advancements in technology. As the maritime industry is a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, there is mounting pressure to reduce its environmental footprint. Electric propulsion systems, utilizing electric motors powered by batteries or fuel cells, present a promising alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based propulsion methods. This technology not only reduces emissions but also enhances operational efficiency and decreases noise pollution. Nevertheless, challenges such as battery technology limitations, infrastructure requirements, and economic considerations must be carefully navigated. This paper explores various aspects of electric propulsion, focusing on propulsion losses, which are a crucial factor in optimizing the performance of electric propulsion systems. Propulsion losses include friction losses, thermal losses, and hydrodynamic losses, each significantly impacting overall efficiency. Strategies for suppressing these losses, such as optimizing hull design, employing advanced materials, and utilizing smart control systems, are essential for maximizing efficiency. Furthermore, a comprehensive performance analysis is vital for understanding the effectiveness of electric propulsion systems. Testing under varying conditions, including speed and load, provides valuable insights into system efficiency. Comparative analysis with traditional systems and case studies of vessels utilizing electric propulsion can illustrate the practical benefits and challenges of this technology. In conclusion, while electric propulsion systems offer numerous advantages, several challenges must be addressed to facilitate widespread adoption. Investment in research and development, along with collaboration among stakeholders, is crucial for overcoming existing limitations. The transition to electric propulsion not only enhances efficiency and reduces pollution but also aligns with sustainability goals in the maritime sector. Embracing this change requires a commitment to innovation and sustainability to ensure a cleaner, more sustainable future for maritime transportation.
