Thermodynamic Investigation of Possible Composite Compound formation from SiO۲-Al۲O۳ Reaction

In this research, Al-Si-O ternary system was studied at first. It was found that Al۲SiO۲ can be produced with a specific ratio of Al۲O۳ and SiO۲. Subsequently, the stability of the phases that can form in Al۲O۳-SiO۲ system was calculated and predicted via HSC software using the Gibbs free energy of formation. The results showed that Al۲SiO۵ is the most stable phase in comparison to SiO۲ and Al۲O۳. Therefore, it is possible to form Al۲SiO۵ using SiO۲ and Al۲O۳ powder mixture.
