چکیده مقاله:

Glass/epoxy laminated composites are widely utilized in different industries due to their lightweight and superior mechanical properties. One of the most important mechanical parameters that determine the performance of materials against failure is fracture toughness. The intralaminar fracture toughness of these composites at different loading rates is examined in this study. The samples were fabricated by ۲۴ layers of glass/epoxy material. ASTM D۵۰۴۵ standard was employed for measuring the intralaminar fracture toughness. The samples were tested under four loading rates of ۱, ۱۰, ۱۰۰, and ۵۰۰ mm/min. In the load-displacement curves, it was observed that at all loading rates, the behaviour of the samples was linear and elastic at the beginning of loading, and after passing the yield point, plastic and nonlinear behaviour was observed. Analysis of the results shows that the intralaminar fracture toughness in glass/epoxy composites is directly affected by the loading rate. The findings indicate that the mode I intralaminar fracture toughness decreases as the loading rate enhances.
