چکیده مقاله:
Implementing renewable energy is one of the most crucial elements of sustainable development worldwide. This study aimed to provide insight into the available potentials of photovoltaics, concentrated solar power, wind energy, and geothermal energy in different provinces of Iran. Since maps of renewable energy sources are primarily graphical, the potential of each source is visualized regardless of the political borders. The method that was carried out in this study was to incorporate Claude AI image analysis to overlay renewable energy potential maps with political borders maps to provide insightful descriptions due to Claude AI’s superior image analysis capability compared to other AI engines. Results of map image analysis showed that Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, and Yazd provinces are desirable locations to generate electricity using photovoltaics with an average daily output of ۴.۷ (kWh/kWp). While regions such as Kerman, Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, parts of Fars, and South Khorasan receive the highest direct normal irradiation and have the potential to generate ۵.۸ kWh/m² to ۶.۶ kWh/m² using concentrated solar power plants. Wind energy potential is significant in multiple provinces such as Sistan and Baluchestan, Kerman, Yazd, and South Khorasan, with average wind speed exceeding ten m/s and vast areas suitable for wind farms. The most notable geothermal energy sources were explored in East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, and Khorasan Razavi provinces due to high underground volcanic activity. Conclusively, the potential of renewable energy can be found in almost all parts of Iran. However, solar energy is the most promising renewable energy source in Iran due to the abundant available potential and scalability of solar energy power generation.
