چکیده مقاله:

Introduction Ovarian cancer (OC), especially Epithelial cancer of the ovary (EOC), represent the fifth most common cancer type in women, that approximately ۸۵ percent of cases diagnosed at an advanced FIGO stage due to the absence of early symptoms and an effective screening option. Moreover, patients’ prognosis is poor with only ۴۶% surviving five years. The ABO blood group system, consisting of four groups (A, B, AB, and O) based on the presence of carbohydrate antigens A and B on red blood cells, is considered the most significant human blood group system. These antigens are not only found on red blood cells but also on various tissues such as gastrointestinal, bronchopulmonary, skin, and urogenital epithelial cells. Multiple studies have indicated that AB۰ blood groups are linked to tumor advancement in various types of cancer. Method Performing systematically searching ,We evaluated ۷ studies including key words “Ovarian cancer” , “ABO blood groups” and related MeSH terms published in PubMed and Google Scholar between ۲۰۱۰ and ۲۰۲۳. Result Six studies provided data on ovarian cancer with different sample sizes and were conducted in different regions. These studies examined ۴۱۰۱ women with ovarian cancer. ۱۵۵۷ women(۳۸%) had blood group A, ۱۳۱۷ women(۳۲%) had blood group O, ۱۰۲۳ women(۲۵%) had blood group B, and ۳۸۴ women(۵%) had blood group AB. Of the studies analyzed, four studies showed a significant association between epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and blood type A, while two studies showed a greater association with blood type O. This study did not show a significant relationship between these variables. More research is being done by researchers in this matter. Conclusion Research has shown a link between ABO blood type and immune response changes, but it's not clear how ABO blood groups affect cancer risk. Some studies have found ABO antigens in certain areas of the ovaries, including in some ovarian cancers. However, we still don't fully understand how these antigens or changes in their levels affect the development of cancer.
