چکیده مقاله:

In this article, a comprehensive review of spinal implants has been conducted by our research team. The spine plays a crucial role in our daily activities and functions, which has made the care and maintenance of this important organ highly significant. Scientists have always been striving to prevent injuries or exacerbations. For decades, simpler medical equipment was used to care for this organ, and with the advancement of science, the equipment and processes for the spine have undergone significant changes. The construction of spinal implants is of great importance, and it should be noted that considering these implants are placed within the body and are in extensive contact with fluids such as water, blood, and extracellular matrix (ECM), materials must be used that do not cause irreparable harm to the human body. In this regard, considering the anatomy and structure of each part of the implant, it should be similar to the target tissue in terms of biomaterials (the materials used in its construction) and the mechanical properties of the final implant. In the construction of spinal implants, we use a variety of materials such as polymers, ceramics, and metals. Due to the high similarity of metals with the spine, these materials are more commonly used for making this category of implants. We have examined this category of biomaterials in terms of type, varieties, and a specialized comparison of mechanical properties between stainless steel and titanium and its alloys.
