چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disorder among women ofreproductive age. Dietary interventions have gained attention as complementary approaches in managingPCOS symptoms. This study aimed to compare the effects of intermittent fasting (IF) and a calorierestricted(CR) diet on hormonal profiles in obese women with PCOS .Methods: In this randomized, controlled clinical trial, ۹۰ obese women with PCOS were divided into threegroups. Group ۱ followed an IF regimen (۱۴:۱۰) Group ۲ adhered to a CR diet consisting of three dailymeals. Blood samples were collected at the start and after ۸ weeks to measure key hormonal markers, including anti-Müllerian hormone, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, total testosterone, free androgen index, sex hormone-binding globulin, and hirsutism scores. Results: After ۸ weeks, all groups showed improvements in hormonal balance, but there were no significantdifferences between the groups (P>۰.۰۵). The IF groups, with or without probiotics, did not show superioroutcomes in terms of hormonal regulation compared to the CR group (P>۰.۰۵).Conclusion: IF did not lead to superior improvements in hormonal profiles compared to a CR diet in obesewomen with PCOS.
