چکیده مقاله:
With increasing interest in brainwave technology and its potential to enhance mental healthinterventions, neurofeedback-assisted meditation has been explored as a tool for improvingmood and relaxation in individuals with depression. This review synthesizes evidence fromrecent studies on the effectiveness of neurofeedback-assisted meditation using wearabledevices in reducing stress and enhancing relaxation in depressive individuals. Methods:This review analyzed three original studies published between ۲۰۲۰ and ۲۰۲۴, includingrandomized controlled trials and pilot studies. Evidence levels ranged from Level II to LevelIV. The reviewed studies evaluated the subjective and objective outcomes of neurofeedbackassistedmeditation, focusing on stress reduction, mood improvement, and neurophysiologicalchanges such as EEG activity and cortisol levels. Results:Across the reviewed studies, neurofeedback-assisted meditation demonstrated modestimprovements in subjective stress reduction and enhanced user satisfaction with meditationexperiences, particularly among individuals with depression. However, the evidence forobjective outcomes, such as changes in EEG patterns or cortisol levels, was limited andinconsistent across studies. Additionally, small sample sizes and heterogeneous study designsrestricted the generalizability of findings. Conclusion:While neurofeedback-assisted meditation shows promise for enhancing relaxation and stressmanagement in individuals with depression, current evidence remains inconclusive due tomethodological limitations and small-scale studies. Further research with larger, more diversepopulations and standardized protocols is needed to robustly assess its efficacy for depressivesymptomatology and neurophysiological markers. The integration of brainwave technologyinto therapeutic practices may offer a complementary approach to managing mood and stressin depression, but its long-term effectiveness requires further exploration.
