In this article, a new model based on the Hertzian contact theorem is proposed to estimate the size of the line flaking defect on the outer race of the bearing. The entry point is determined based on the ball-race geometric shape relationship, while the exit point is determined from the time domain signal . Therefore, the size of the defect can be estimated through the vibration signal without the need to measure the additional bearing load and stiffness. In this regard, experiments were conducted on a ۳-axis CNC machine tool with speeds of ۵۰۰-۳۰۰۰rpm and three line scaling defects were estimated using the proposed method. The proposed model is able to estimate the size of the defect with minimum error related to speed, offset error and standard deviation.
