چکیده مقاله:
Solar energy is a renewable energy which has attractedspecial attention in many countries. Solar cathodicprotection systems harness the sun’s energy to protectunderground pipelines and tanks from galvaniccorrosion. The object of this study is to design and theeconomic analysis a cathodic protection system byimpressed current supplied with solar energy panelsapplied to underground pipelines. In the present study, the technical and economic analysis of using solarenergy for cathodic protection system in Khuzestanprovince in Iran is investigated. For this purpose, theecological conditions such as the weather data, airclearness and sunshine hours are analyzed. Theeconomic analyses were done using computer code toinvestigate the feasibility analysis from the using ofvarious energy sources in order to cathodic protectionsystem. The overall research methodology is divided intofour components: data collection, design of elements, techno economical evaluation, and output analysis.According to the results, solar renewable energy systemscan supply adequate power for cathodic protectionsystem purposes. This study can be useful for theengineers and the companies who intended to design andutilize of solar cathodic protection system in the world.
