چکیده مقاله:
The influence of liquid phase properties on thehydrodynamics of an airlift reactor with the net drafttube (ALR-NDT) in terms of overall gas holdup (εg) andmixing time (tM) was studied using water and mineralsalt medium (MSM), which is the typical media forfermentation processes in biodegradation studies. Thedata are compared for those obtained in conventionalairlift (ALR) and bubble column reactor (BCR). Theresults showed that using MSM as the test fluidincreased the gas holdup in comparison to water,especially at higher gas flow rates and decrease themixing time. These results can be attributed to ۳۰%decrease in MSM’s surface tension in relation to water.It should be noted that using ALR-NDT with MSM (ingas flow rates over ۷۰۰ ml/min) increase the gas holdupin relation to the ALR and this show its preference forusing these kinds of reactors. Also the mixing time withMSM decreased in ALR and ALR-NDT in relation toBCR, and this parameter with using water as the testsolution, has the higher values.
