چکیده مقاله:

Air pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues of the present century, particularly in the metropolis of Tehran, posing a serious threat to human health. PM۲.۵ and PM۱۰ pollutants have a direct impact on the respiratory system, leading to conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart attacks, and bronchitis, and can even result in cancer and death among both adults and children. This study aims to assess the risk and health impacts of particulate matter on children and adults in the western, southwestern, and southern regions of Tehran. To this end, the concentrations of PM۲.۵ and PM۱۰ pollutants were collected from air quality monitoring stations in these regions over the course of one year in ۲۰۲۳ and analyzed. Additionally, meteorological data and the kriging interpolation method were used to create maps of air pollution distribution in the study areas. The analysis of PM۲.۵ data revealed that in District ۱۹ of Tehran, which has the highest share of particulate matter pollution, over ۲۰% of deaths among individuals over ۳۰ years old and ۳۰% of deaths among children under five were due to this pollutant. For PM۱۰, the prevalence of acute bronchitis caused by this pollutant was reported to be over ۶۲% in children and ۷۵% in adults in this region. The kriging interpolation maps also indicated that the western, southwestern, and southern areas of Tehran exhibit the highest concentrations of particulate matter. Considering the severe health implications of air pollution for citizens, it is crucial to implement immediate and effective measures to reduce particulate matter emissions in Tehran.
