Systematic review of the use of artificial intelligence in the implementation of governmental construction projects

The emergence of artificial intelligence in recent years has brought about significant changes on a global scale. Despite technological advancements, governments still predominantly manage their projects using traditional methods. To harness the benefits of artificial intelligence in the realm of government projects, there is a noticeable need to substantially increase the utilization of artificial intelligence-based systems. The aim of this article is to conduct a systematic review of research related to artificial intelligence in project management. Employing an integrative approach and utilizing the PRISMA protocol framework for studies on the application of artificial intelligence in government project management, we present an analysis. For this purpose, ۴۰۰ articles retrieved from databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Web of Science were examined for the period from ۲۰۱۸ to ۲۰۲۳. Following two screening phases, ۲۹ high-quality and moderate-quality research articles were identified for in-depth analysis, ultimately presenting a framework for studies on the application of artificial intelligence in government project management. The research results indicate that artificial intelligence can be employed across various government sectors, and with appropriate policy-making and consideration of ethical aspects, governments can utilize artificial intelligence to provide better services in the public sector. Nevertheless, it is recommended that more extensive studies be conducted in this area.
