It traces the historical developmentof international constitutionalism from Enlightenment philosophy to contemporary global governancestructures. The study explores key principles, including the rule of law, separation of powers, andprotection of fundamental rights, as applied to the international sphere. Through case studies of theEuropean Union, International Criminal Court, and global environmental governance, the articleillustrates both the potential and challenges of implementing constitutionalist ideas beyond stateborders. It critically assesses persistent obstacles, such as state sovereignty concerns and enforcementdifficulties, while also considering emerging issues in digital governance and non-state actorinvolvement. The analysis reveals a gradual, albeit contested, constitutionalization of international law, reflecting an ongoing tension between global aspirations and national interests.
