چکیده مقاله:
Two-word verbs are frequently used by English natives but avoided by non-English language learners. So, their use is considered as a test for English word fluency for non-English language learners. The use of this structure is likely to be affected by the topic of the essay. This study was done with the aim of investigating the effect of changing topic on the use of two-word verbs, and comparing the frequency of these verbs used by English natives and Persian learners. Twenty-five intermediated English language students were asked to write articles on three different topics The use of two-word verbs by Persian learners and English natives was investigated in Stanford Tagger and AntConc software. The results showed the language learners use these verbs less English natives had done and changing topic didn`t affect the usage of these verbs. Teachers are suggested to teach two-word verbs based on their frequency and importance.
