چکیده مقاله:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of code switching on Iranian EFL learners’ oral performance. The current study was descriptive and comparative. The statistical population of this study was from a local language institute in Miandoab city. Using PET test, ۶۰ students from ۱۰۰ students were selected. They were divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire, which was extracted from the IELTS test and had ۲۰ items. The program for teaching speech generation through encoding was presented to students in six sessions (۶۰ minutes) for ۴۰ days. The control group was not exposed to any intervention. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to analyze the data for checking the normal distribution of data and single-sample T-test for testing hypotheses. Findings showed that the use of encoding on speech production among Iranian EFL learners has a positive and significant effect. As a result, encoding is effective in improving speech skills among learners.
