چکیده مقاله:

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of incorporating Bioglass (BG) ۴۵S۵ into an orthodontic adhesive on the shear bond strength (SBS) of metal orthodontic brackets bonded to enamel and the adhesive remnant index (ARI) score. Methods: In this in vitro study, ۵۵ extracted sound premolars were randomly divided into five groups (n=۱۱ each). Metal brackets were bonded using Ambar FGM orthodontic adhesive without BG (control group) and with BG ۴۵S۵ added at concentrations of ۵%, ۱۰%, ۱۵%, and ۲۰% by weight in groups ۲ to ۵, respectively. The SBS was measured using a universal testing machine, and the ARI score was determined under a stereomicroscope at ×۱۰ magnification. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA at a significance level of α=۰.۰۵.Results: The highest mean SBS was observed in the ۲۰% BG Group (۴۸.۲۸±۲۴.۵ MPa), followed by the control group (۳۵.۸۱±۱۱.۱۱ MPa), ۱۵% BG Group (۱۹.۶۴±۵.۴۲ MPa), ۱۰% BG Group (۱۶.۳±۹.۳۳ MPa), and ۵% BG Group (۱۴.۲۱±۴.۲۳ MPa). The SBS in the ۲۰% BG Group was significantly higher than in the control (P=۰.۰۱۳), ۵% BG (P=۰.۰۰۰), and ۱۰% BG (P=۰.۰۰۲) groups. No significant differences were found in ARI scores among the groups (P=۰.۸۱۰).Conclusion: Adding BG ۴۵S۵ to the orthodontic adhesive at concentrations of ۵%, ۱۰%, and ۱۵% did not significantly affect the SBS, but a ۲۰% concentration increased the SBS. Incorporating BG at these levels does not adversely impact the SBS or ARI scores.
