چکیده مقاله:
Background:Affecting nations as a whole, pandemics can be a source of depression, anxiety, and other negative moods for the population worldwide. The impacts of health crises and the reactions towards them are particularly severe on children and teenagers. This narrative article will examine the wide-ranging consequences of COVID-۱۹ on the mental health of kids and youth, with a focus on depression, stress, social phobia, eating disorders, sedentary lifestyles, and substance use.Method:This narrative review was based on a thorough search of scientific databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, and CrossRef, covering a period from ۲۰۱۷ to ۲۰۲۴. In total, thirteen articles contributed to this review. Results:The data presented in this article also accentuate that the prolonged isolation and disrupted routines have intensified pre-existing mental health issues and have fostered challenges. Moreover, it highlights the increase in youth suffering from anxiety and depression that has been fueled by social disconnection. It demonstrates the relationship between the rise in screen time and sedentary behavior, the alarming increase in eating disorders, and substance use, as the latter was adopted as coping mechanisms. It suggests some efficient tools that help deal with such issues. Conclusion:The COVID-۱۹ pandemic has worsened mental health problems, highlighting the need for mental health care and community involvement to manage these mental issues and find a solution to them to raise more robust, mentally healthy children and teenagers for a post-pandemic future.
