Study on Electrochemical Treatment of Basic Blue3 from Water and Wastewater: Investigation on Operating Parameters

The electrochemical oxidation of synthetic textile wastewater was studied on iron/aluminum electrodes in a batch electrochemical reactor. The representative Basic Blue3 (B.B3) was selected for the synthetic dye wastewater The electro- coagulation (EC) technique showed satisfactory color removal efficiency.The data showed that, for a given pH: 5 and optimum current density: 71A/m2, with an initial concentration of dye:100-1000 mg/L, the specific energy consumption in achieving above 99.0% color removal was on the order of 0.009 kWh/Lof dye wastewater, water recovery was 0.61-0.94 L/L of wastewater, time of reaction:22-60 min based on initial concentration of dye, electrode distance:4 cm.
