چکیده مقاله:
The ability to design proteins with novel structures and functions presents enormous potential for tackling contemporary challenges in both biomedical and material sciences. This essay delves into the fundamental principles and methodologies employed in protein design, particularly emphasizing the use of the Rosetta software. Rosetta is instrumental in calculating protein energies and sampling conformations to identify the lowest-energy states, which are crucial for stable protein structures. The essay provides various examples demonstrating the effectiveness of these designed proteins, such as those engineered to target conserved regions of the influenza virus, thereby preventing infection, and others designed to bind small molecules with exceptionally high affinity. Additionally, the essay explores the design and development of self-assembling protein-based nanomaterials. These nanomaterials are highlighted for their remarkable precision and uniformity, making them ideal for critical applications like targeted drug delivery. Altogether, these advancements underscore the transformative potential of synthetic protein design in creating innovative solutions for modern challenges, from combating diseases to engineering new materials with highly specific and predictable properties.
