چکیده مقاله:

Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is a rare heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by focal aplasia of the skin at birth. The exact mechanism of congenital skin aplasia is not fully understood. Several factors have been suspected as possible causes, e.g., amniotic membrane adhesions, compromised vasculature to the skin, intrauterine infections, teratogens, fetus papyraceous, trauma, genetics, ectodermal dysplasia, imperfect neural tube closure and maternal intrapartum drug use. Most frequently, the lesions are on the scalp in the midline, but other areas of the body may be affected, including the trunk and extremities. Diagnosis is usually based on clinical data. Management strategies include simple observation, prevention of infection in the case of ulceration, and surgical excision or skin grafting in the case of large defects. The present study describes the case of a ۱-day -old patient with an isolated ACC of the scalp. She was treated conservatively until the defect had formed scar tissue four months later.
