چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Volcanic eruptions pose a threat to communities, often sidelining basic needs during emergencies. This research focuses on the often-ignored sexual needs of evacuees, which can impact their psychosocial health, using the Mount Merapi eruptions as a case study. Material and Methods: Employing qualitative methods, this research conducted in-depth interviews with ۲۵ evacuees from provinces impacted by Mount Merapi’s eruption. Thematic analysis was used to examine the data and uncover patterns related to sexual needs in evacuation scenarios. Results: The study reveals that evacuees' sexual needs persist in crisis conditions but face challenges like privacy, inadequate facilities, and a non-conducive environment. There's a noted awareness among participants regarding these needs’ role in psychosocial health, albeit influenced by individual and contextual factors. Conclusion: The study highlights the persistence of sexual needs among evacuees during disaster situations and the need for integrating these needs into evacuation planning to enhance psychosocial well-being.
