Can Yoga Exercises Improve In Vitro Fertilization Outcomes in Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is consideredas the most common cause of Infertility. Yoga exercisescan be noticed as an adjuvant therapy in infertile women withPCOS. This study aimed to determine The Effect of Yoga on Invitro fertilization Outcomes in Women with Polycystic OvarySyndrome Undergoing Infertility Treatment.Materials and Methods: This clinical trial was carried out on۶۱ infertile women with PCOS (۳۱ women in case and ۳۰ incontrol group) undergoing infertility treatment referred to theSarem Hospital in Tehran. Demographic, fertility, and dataabout IVF outcomes were collected using researcher madequestionnaires before and after ۶ weeks yoga in two groups.The collected data were analyzed using SPSS ۲۱ software.Results: The mean age of women was ۳۰.۷۷ ±۶.۰۱ and ۳۰.۳۵± ۵.۵۳ years in case and control groups respectively (p=۰.۲۵۹).The most women in two groups (۵۶.۷% vs. ۶۱.۳% in case andcontrol ones respectively) had academic education (p=۰.۳۵۸).There were not any significant differences between ۲ groupsin terms of follicle numbers after ovarian stimulation, numberof embryos after egg fertilization, and pregnancy occurrencedetected by B-HCG positive test ۱۴ days after embryo transfer.Conclusion: Six weeks yoga exercises didn’t show any significanteffect on in vitro fertilization outcomes in women withPCOS undergoing infertility treatment.
