Background: Infertility is defined as the inability of a coupleto become pregnant, after a year of sexual intercourse withoutcontraception. Awareness of risk factors for infertility is the firststep in maintaining fertility in the future. For empowerment,reduce health care costs and provide high-quality infertility carebased on patient needs, it is necessary to identify and meet theeducational needs of infertile people. So, this study aimed toreview the knowledge and knowledge of infertility and educationalneeds of infertile people. Articles published in Englishand Persian with the same population as the study populationwere included.Materials and Methods: Academic and step-by-step searchesfor the purpose of studying the pubMed/Medline, Googol Scolar,Web of Science and SID Magiran databases were reviewedduring ۲۰۱۳-۲۰۱۷. In first ۱۴۷ articles were found and finally۱۴ papers were selected based on incaution criteria. English andPersian articles with the same population and aim were included.Articles that focused exclusively on theories, case-report,were excluded. Results: There is a poor knowledge of hygiene in two genders(۳.۰۸ ± ۰.۹۹) this knowledge gap correlates with the delay inbirth and infertility treatment. Most women believe that whenthey first understand their problem, they must receive fertilityeducation (۹۲.۲%). The greatest barriers to educating fertilityawareness, short-term counseling and time limitation of generalpractitioners and the lack of educational materials neededfor infertile persons. Most patients (۹۲.۱%) and men (۸۳.۳%)believed that infertility education programs should include thecauses of infertility and different types of diagnostic and laboratorytreatment methods, because, knowledge of the causesand methods of treatment of infertility was very weak. Posttreatmenteducation was also inadequate for patients (۷۰%). Inorder to reduce the risk of burnout for infertility and increasethe success rate of infertility treatments by correcting these riskfactors, lifestyle health education was also effective (۴۶.۱%).Conclusion: Considering the health evolution map in Iran andadopting a new population growth approach, and given the increasingincidence of infertility, it is necessary to seriously investigatethe situation and determine the priorities of infertilesociety based on their needs. Adult education in reproductiveage and the population of infertile patients can empower them.Understanding the needs of infertile couples can be an effectivestep in solving problems and reducing their psychologicalstress, and also by organizing infertility centers to increase theirproductivity. It seems that developing a standard curriculum forclinical infertility patients that includes patient priorities andknowledge gaps to be necessary. Therefore, create of appropriate,efficient and targeted policies based on need approach onthe target group in reproductive health need for mental health,increased well-being and promotion of health.
