Effect of Boric Acid on Testes Development in Offspring from Induced Diabetic Pregnant Mice

چکیده مقاله:
Background: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is one ofthe fast-growing clinical complications in the world. GestationalDiabetes Mellitus occurs when this placental hormonesinducedinsulin tolerance overcomes β-cells hyperplasia inpancreas. Studies showed that receive Boron in diet, changethe pattern of insulin metabolism. We investigation the effectof Boric acid on testes development in offspring of maternalalloxan-induced diabetes mellitus.Materials and Methods: For this aim, pregnant mice were dividedinto four groups: Control group received normal saline.Diabetic group that received ۲۰۰ mg/kg alloxan intraperitoneallysingle dose at ۳th days of pregnancy. Boric acid groupthat received Boric acid ۱۰ mg/kg single dose on ۶th, ۸th and۱۰th days of pregnancy. Diabetic and Boric acid Group whichrecived alloxan on ۳th day of pregnancy to induce maternal Diabetesmellitus and then received Boric acid ۱۰ mg/kg at ۶th, ۸thand ۱۰th days of pregnancy. ۶۰ days after birth, male mice weresacrificed, testes and caudal epididym removed for histologicaland sperm parameters analysis.Results: Our results showed that Boric acid reduced the levelof blood glucose in mothers compared to the Diabetic mother,also Diabetes reduced significantly the testes diameter, seminiferoustubules diameter and epithelium thickness and increasedthe lumen diameter compared to the control group while Boricacid improved all of these parameters, and sperm parametersshowed that Diabetes significantly decreased sperm count, viability,motility and increased significantly sperm abnormalitycompared to the control group but Boric acid betterment all parameters.Conclusion: So Boric acid can be a good choice for reduce theadvers effect of GDM on reproductive system specially spermatogenesisprocess.
