Hormonal and Metabolically Effect of Galega Officinalis in Adult Rats with PCOS

چکیده مقاله:

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of themost incident reproductive endocrine illnesses in women, withan occurrence ranging from ۵ to ۲۱% in females of generativeage. Aim of this study was evaluated the protective effect of G.officinalis on hormonal and metabolic parameters in adult ratswith PCOS Materials and Methods: Wistar female rats were allocatedinto sham (n=۷) and experimental groups (n= ۲۴) were inducedPCO by single injection of estradiol valerate (۱۶ mg/kg/IM),experimental groups were subdivided into ۳ groups: G۱, PCOScontrol group; G۲, treated by G. Officinalis extract ۲۰۰ mg/kg/orally/daily; G۳, treated with hydroalcoholic extract of G. Officinalis۴۰۰ mg/kg/orally/daily. After the treatment period (۲weeks), all of the rats were anesthetized with ketamine and xylazine(۵۰ and ۱۰ mg/kg) then their blood samples were drawnand their serum samples were used for testing of glucose, insulin,Aromatase and hormones such as LH, FSH, Testosterone,and estrogen.Results: The serum level of FBS, insulin, Aromatase, LH, FSH,Testosterone and estrogen was significantly increased in PCOSgroup as compared with control, and also in the treated groupsthat received ۲۰۰ and ۴۰۰ mg/kg of G. officinali was significantlydecreased when compared with PCOS group.Conclusion: Results of the present research have been shownthat extract of Galega officinalis has a significant effect on thelevel of the LH/FSH, testosterone, estradiol, aromatase, FBS,and insulin compared with PCOS group, which is maybe dueto the presence of antioxidant and insulin-like agents, such asBygvanydyn, resin, glycoside, and saponin.
