Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most commoncause of infertility in women of reproductive age. The lack ofovulation is one of the most common symptoms of this disease.The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect ofhuman seminal plasma on histomorphology of polycystic ovaryin mice.Materials and Methods: In this study, the mice were dividedinto ۳ groups; control, PCO and PCO/seminal plasma. For inductionof polycystic ovary, testosterone enanthate ۱ mg/۱۰۰gwas injected in immature mice for ۴ weeks. To ensure polycysticovary induction, the vaginal smear of the mice examined.After induction of polycystic ovary, seminal plasma grouprecieved PMSG hormone at a concentration of ۱۰ IU and ۴۸hours later human seminal plasma ۰.۱ml, i.p, in a single dosewas injected. Body weight and ovarian diameter were measured.Also the estrous cycle, changes in histomorphology of theovary, characteristics of ovarian tissue, the number of folliclesand the number of oocytes in oviduct were investigated.Results: In our results, seminal Plasma did not affect the weightof the mice. Also increased the diameter of the ovary in PCO/Seminal plasma group compared to the PCO group. In PCO/Seminal plasma group, the Estrous cycle changed from thediestrous phase to the estrus phase. seminal plasma decreasedhyperthecosis, the number of disrupted and pyknotic granulosacells and hyper vascularization, also increased the number ofluteinization of granulosa cells. the average of antral folliclesand corpus luteum significantly increased in the PCO/Seminalplasma group compared to the PCO group.Conclusion: Seminal plasma induces ovulation in the polycysticovary.
