چکیده مقاله:

Background: The use of pesticides in agriculture is necessaryin these days. Pesticides produce free radicals and damage tothe reproductive system, hence, antioxidants can be used toimprove the adverse effect of pesticides. Antioxidants are substancesthat reduce or prevent cells damage by neutralizing freeradicals. Selenium is essential for much basic physiological reactionto protect the cells from oxidative stress. In this studywe studied the effect of Selenium on spermatogenesis processagainst the Flonicamid pestiside.Materials and Methods: Accordingly, adult male NMRI mice۱۰ weeks old divided into ۶ groups, group ۱: Control groupreceived nothing. group ۲: Flonicamide ۲۵ mg / kg, group ۳:Flonicamide ۲۵ mg / kg and sodium selenite ۰.۵ mg / kg, group۴: Flonicamide ۵۰ mg/ kg, group ۵: Flonicamide ۵۰ mg/ kg andsodium selenite ۰.۵ mg / kg and group ۶: sodium selenite ۰.۵mg / kg. All groups were injected intraperitoneally daily for ۲۱days. After injection, the mice were sacrificed by displacementof the cervical vertebrae. Testes and caudal epididym were removedfor histomorphological and sperm parameters studies. Results: Histological studies showed that Flonicamide significantlyreduced the number of sertoli cells, spermatogonia, primaryspermatocytes, round and elangated spermatids, and inthe sperm parameters studies, decreased count, viability, motilityof sperm and increased sperm abnormality compared to thecontrol group and this damage was sharp in high dose. Conclusion: The results showed that sodium selenite whit flunicamideimproved all tissue and sperm parameters damage,So, sodium selenite can reduce the negative effects of Flonicamideon spermatogenesis and improve the quality of spermand can introduce as a good antioxidante for reduce the adverseeffect of pesticide specially Flonicamid.
