Background: Stem cells are the cells that have the capacityof self-renewing and maintain undifferentiated or differentiateto one or more types of cells. In these years novel researcheson stem cell biology and technology have grown more. Butthe world of the cells is more complicated and each cell is interactingwith multiple factors in the whole body. So it's veryimportant to study this complex system together. The Study ofbiological systems by holistic approach is called systems biology.In ۲۰۰۸, Takahashi and Yamanaka designed a study for theinduction of pluripotency in somatic cells. They discovered ۴ factors for this reason: oct۳/۴, sox۲, c-myc and klf۴. But what isthe importance of these factors? Are these factors critical in theinduction of pluripotency signaling? Is it possible to substitutethese factors to other factors? These are important questionsthat we should know for better work on induced pluripotentstem cell (iPSC). The best solution for knowing the answer tothese questions is systems biology.Materials and Methods: In this research signaling pathwaysthat were touched by ۴ factors of oct۳/۴, sox۲, c-myc and klf۴are extracted from Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(http://www.genome.jp/kegg) and Reactome (http://www.reactome.org) databases. After that critical and confluence points insignaling pathways of these factors were determined and neighborfactors and a number of similar pathways of these neighborfactors to the mentioned factors determined. Finally, interactionnetwork of all of the factors were drawn by Cytoscape software.Results: It seems that the induction of similar pathways bydifferent factors can help us induce pluripotency. But furtherexperimental researches should be designed for analyzing thisresults in laboratory.Conclusion: Bioinformatics and Systems biology approachcan help stem cell biology and technology for starting novelresearches with better lookout. In other words, we can checkour idea by bioinformatics and extend our research in the wholesystem and after that experimental research will start based oncomputational and systematic results. So costs will decreaseand results will be mindfully.
