The Sabzevar Playa, located in the northeastern region of Iran, has the capacity to amass significant quantities of both natural and anthropogenic heavy metals and solutes. Presently, it is recognized as one of the dust generations inside the country of Iran. The playa exhibits several geomorphic surfaces that display varying degrees of susceptibility to wind erosion. These surfaces may be broadly categorized into three distinct groups based on their visual characteristics. The geomorphic surfaces known as salt crusts, puffy ground, and clay pan are characterized by the presence of potentially harmful trace elements. The objective of this study is to assess the levels of environmental and ecological contamination in the sediments of Sabzevar Playa. Therefore, ۵۰ sediment samples, including both surface and deep layers, were gathered from various geomorphic facies. These samples were then subjected to analysis using the ICP-OES technique. Furthermore, several environmental pollution indicators, including the degree of contamination (Cd), geoaccumulation index (Igeo), enrichment factor (EF), pollutant load index (PLI), and potential ecological risk (PER), are assessed. Cluster analysis may also reveal the interconnectedness between pollutants and geomorphic surfaces associated with significant contamination.
