Identification of biomarkers for breast cancer in different reproductive ages usingcomputational methods Breast cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in women worldwide [۱],characterized by molecular and morphological heterogeneity [۲].The study aimed to identify potentialhub genes in the development network of breast cancer in premenopausal (reproductive) andpostmenopausal age groups. Using data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) Dataset study GSE۱۰۲۴۸۴, comprising ۶۸۳ samples, patients with breast cancer were divided into the two age groups, andanalysis was conducted using GEO۲R. Genes exhibiting a log fold change greater than " -۱.۲ " with anadjusted p-value below " ۰.۰۵" were plotted in a network, revealing the progesterone receptor (PGR) asthe hub gene with a high degree in the Cytoscape network. Elevated expression of PGR was found inthe premenopausal age group, indicating a direct correlation between its high expression and increasedfemale sex hormones (esterogen and progesterone) in this age group. The findings suggest potentialdifferential diagnostic and therapeutic approaches between various age groups, with the examination ofPGR as a biomarker in diagnosing and treating breast cancer in the premenopausal age group provingeffective. The study highlights the importance of considering age-specific factors in breast cancerresearch and treatment.
