Solar-Assisted Evaporative Desalination System Using Evacuated Tube Collectors

Solar energy is an important type of renewable energydue to its wide applications. Solar-assisted desalination isa sustainable and green technology for relieving watershortage because of its almost zero carbon emission. Inthis study, an evaporative desalination system includingevacuated tube collectors was designed. The experimentswere conducted in June in which the ambient temperatureand solar radiation intensity varied from ۲۴ to ۳۱ °C and۳۲۰ to ۱۰۱۰ W/m۲, respectively. Two filling ratios of ۸۰%and ۵۰% were tested. A maximum desalination rate of۱۰۰۰ and ۱۳۰۰ mL/h.m۲ obtained considering filled ratiosof ۸۰% and ۵۰%, respectively. The maximum GORvalues of ۱.۲۷ and ۱.۶۵ resulted.
