چکیده مقاله:

The seismic behavior of pipe rack structures supporting air coolers with combined framing systemmade of reinforced concrete frames in the first level and steel frames above is studied with nonlinearanalysis method. Industrial structures have multi-factor design requirements which make theirresponse more complex than other building structures. The implication of standard framing systemsand design methodologies, especially in high seismic zones would require additional engineeringjudgement for these structures. The response of two samples of pipe racks, common in oil and gasprojects, designed based on the project criteria and related standards is investigated and verified withnonlinear static method. The design of critical elements and connections and the seismic parametersused in the combined system are discussed and evaluated. The overstrength factors are studied andsome modifications on the magnitude and application of them are recommended
