Synthesis of Thermoplastic elastomer polyurea/urethane and investigation ofits mechanical properties

Thermoplastic elastomer Polyurea/urethane was synthesized using polypropylene glycol diamine(PPG) and Polycaprolactonediol (PCL) as amine component, Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) asisocyanate component and Isofurane diamine (IPDA) as chain extender. In the FTIR analysis, in thearea of ۲۰۰۰-۲۵۰۰ cm-۱ don’t observed any peaks. which indicated the complete consumption of theisocyanate component during the synthesis. Also, the peak observed at ۱۶۸۰ cm-۱ was related to theurea carbonyl groups resulting from the reaction. In the tensile test of the synthesized samples, it wasobserved that sample C showed the highest flexibility and sample B showed the highest tensilestrength. This observation was due to the high flexibility of PCL and the high tensile strength of ureabonds and cycloaliphatic chain extender structure.
