Preparation and application of low molecular weight polyacrylate dispersantof Kaolin, calcium carbonate and TiO۲

Polyacrylic acid (PAA) was prepared by controlled radical polymerization of acrylic acid (AA) using sodiumpersulfate as an initiator in the presence of a chain-transfer agent (CTA). The prepared acrylic homopolymer asdispersant was characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Gel PermissionChromatography (GPC). The properties and dispersing ability of the polymeric dispersant in its neutralized formwas further investigated. The results showed that the polyacrylate dispersant with Mw=۹۵۱۰ and PDI=۱.۳۷exhibited good dispersion properties for Kaolin, CaCO۳ and TiO۲.
