چکیده مقاله:

Magnesium implants require appropriate coatings for proper functioning within the human body.Calcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite-based coatings have been extensively studied andinvestigated. However, there is still a need to improve the performance of these coatings. In thisstudy, the effect of a titanium-based conversion coating (TiCC) applied on the surface of AZ۳۱magnesium implants on the performance of the hydroxyapatite (HA) coating is investigated. First, atitanium-based conversion coating was applied on the surface of the implants, and the results of theimpedance test (EIS) showed an increase in the polarization resistance of the surface. Additionally, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) results revealed a very thin layer containing nanometersizedparticles, which are likely titanium deposits, covering the surface. In the next step, ahydroxyapatite coating was applied on the titanium-based conversion coating (Ti/HA), and theimpedance test results showed a significant increase in the overall system resistance. Furthermore, the SEM images indicated that the crystalline structure of HA was well-formed on the amorphousTiCC layer.
