Hydrogenation of PAO oils using a new heterogeneous Pd catalyst onγ-alumina

In this study, we designed and synthesized a new Pd catalyst supported on γ-alumina extrudates for hydrogenationof PAO lubricants. For this purpose, alumina extrudates were first synthesized and then the stabilization of Pdnanoparticles on the exrtuded suppport was preformed. The obtained catalyst was characterized using FT-IR andICP-AES analyses. This catalyst was highly active in PAO hydrogenation. According to the results, the highestefficiency of ۹۰% was achievable under mild reaction condtion (dosage of catalyst = ۵ wt. %, P = ۱۲ bar, T = ۱۳۰°C, and t = ۷ h).
