چکیده مقاله:

Biocompatible drug carriers have had a major impact in novel drug delivery systems due to their highefficiency, versatility and cost-effectiveness. Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) are natural tubular claynanomaterials with unique physicochemical properties resulting in their application as drugnanocarrriers for targeted and controlled release. Several techniques including modification withbiodegradable biopolymers have been used to overcome the limits of HNTs as nanocarriers. In thisstudy, chitosan and xanthan gum have been used to alter the structure of HNTs resulting in afunctionalized new nanocomposite. We have used dynamic light scattering (DLS) to confirm thedeposition of xanthan gum on chitosan HNT composites. The synthesized nanocomposite is shownto possess new physicochemical characteristics including increased stability, pH-sensitivity andbiocompatibility which increases its potential use as a controlled release drug delivery system.
