چکیده مقاله:

Particulate and resin-based reinforcement uniquely influences rubber engineering properties, including heat build-up, wear, and crack growth. In this study, the role of carbon black type N۶۶۰and a high-styrene rubber resin known as HSR are considered for the modification of crack growthbehavior. The presence of HSR resin at a high loading level in conjunction with a high level of carbonblack revealed a major effect on the compound viscoelastic loss and improved the static crack growthresistance. It also sharply changed the pattern of crack growth from saw-toothed to a knotty type oftearing. Nevertheless, it negatively changed the ordinary rubber properties including hardness. Byreducing the percentage of carbon black, it was possible to make a compound similar in hardness tothat reinforced solely with carbon black, the static crack growth behavior did not significantly changebut the fatigue crack growth resistance was deeply reduced. This highlighted the significance of thepresence of particulate-based reinforcement in providing a physical barrier against fatigue crackgrowth.
