چکیده مقاله:

One of the most significant challenges faced by the petroleum and chemical industries is internalcorrosion of product storage tanks. To prevent this corrosion and the subsequent destruction of thetanks, organic coatings are the most widely employed method. Among the various types of organiccoatings available, epoxy novolac coatings stand out for their exceptional chemical and thermalresistance. In this research, we investigated the acid and thermal resistance of an epoxy novolaccoating after its creation. We employed the FTIR to analyze the chemical structure of the coatingbefore and after immersion in ۳۸% sulfuric acid. This technique allowed us to assess the coating'schemical resistance. EDX was employed to identify any elements that penetrated the coating afteracid immersion. The ATR-FTIR analysis revealed excellent chemical resistance in the epoxynovolac-based coating, as evidenced by the minimal changes observed in the FTIR spectra beforeand after acid immersion. The thermal resistance of the coating remained relatively unchanged, reaching approximately ۳۰۰°C both before and after immersion. This suggests minimal impact fromthe acid. Additionally, the EDX test detected a slight penetration of sulfur into the coating afterimmersion, further indicating a minor influence of the acid.
