چکیده مقاله:
The growing concerns on the drawbacks of using petroleum-based plastics as well as the upcomingshortening of fossil and petroleum resources, have motivated the industries to find suitable bio-basedsubstitutions such as PLA for petroleum-based plastics. Blends of PVC/ABS have been widelycommercialized due to their unique mechanical and thermal properties. This research was aimed atpreparing plasticized PVC/ABS/PLA ternary bioblends with an acceptable balance of toughness andstiffness properties. Therefore, various ternary blends containing ۱۰-۲۰ wt.% PLA were prepared viamelt-blending in a co-rotating twin-screw extruder, and characterized by tensile and Impactmeasurements. Tensile measurements indicated that increasing the PLA content in the blends leadsto the reduction of both tensile strength and modulus as well as notched Izod impact strength;however, a different effect of components on the properties have been observed so that it seems thevariations of tensile modulus are more related on ABS rather than PLA while impact strength isreduced by incorporation of PLA. It can be concluded that PVC/ABS/PLA blends with ۱۰ wt.% PLAcan be considered as a suitable substitution for PVC/ABS blends, showing negligible drop inmechanical properties.
